Covid-19 Bulletin: 35
The continuing Covid risk and our Club
Dear fellow members
We will all have been following the recent announcements from the Government as to the heightened Covid risk due to the (more highly infectious) Omicron variant.
Of prime concern to us, of course, at the Club is to continue to do all we can to minimise the effects on our staff, our fellow members and ourselves of the virus, just as we approach Christmas and the New Year and all that we normally so enjoy doing at this festive time of year.
Thank you for the way in which we have all been adhering to the various rules and guidelines that have been introduced, which feedback suggests are felt reasonable to most members in the circumstances.
The Covid Group has been considering what changes many be required in light of the National Risk level now at level 4.
The Covid Guidelines outlined in Bulletin 34 (issued Tuesday 30th November 2021) still apply and provided we all continue to be careful and vigilant; we see no reason to alter the current rules and guidelines. As a reminder, these are on our website.
Organisers of Club events are asked to liaise with the Club’s Covid Group when planning an event. We will understand if organisers decide to postpone events or limit numbers attending until the current level of emergency subsides.
With the need for as much natural air ventilation as possible, if you are attending an event indoors, please be prepared to wrap up well. You are asked to take a lateral flow test just before coming to the Club and the wearing of a face mask is required in the Club House, unless you are exempt or sitting eating and or drinking.

Due to the current low numbers of bookings due to the covid pandemic, we have regretfully decided to cancel the New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance this year. There will be no bar or catering service available on New Years Eve.

The Carol Service on the Friday 24th December 2021 will go ahead. Please be prepared to wear your face mask when singing and drinks may be table service only (depending on numbers attending) and wrap up warmly. We will introduce a cap on numbers attending, similar to the guidance which has worked well for Quiz nights. Naturally, there is no charge, but please book a place.
Meetings of Committees are being held on ZOOM or Teams for the foreseeable future.

Quiz Night, Commodore’s Challenge and normal Race Hut duties are all planned to go ahead.
In essence, we want to run as many events and activities as we are allowed to under the current regulations and as safely as possible. It is then up to us, as individual members, to decide whether or not to attend.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself, or Mark our General Manager, or any members of the Committee with any questions or comments.
The decorations in the Club House look fantastic and many thanks to Alison Consolos for all the work involved.
Wishing you as safe and happy Christmas as possible together with good fortune and fair winds in 2022
John
