Our Club Regatta is on the weekend of the 8th and 9th July. Enter on line through our web site; if you are not racing please consider volunteering for the many jobs that make the weekend so memorable. I understand that Lynda and I are cooking Bacon Butties from 08.00 on the Saturday!
General Committee
June’s General Committee meeting will bring to a conclusion our deliberations on our Senior Membership Category. We will also be considering the Capital Expenditure requests brought forward by HB&C, Y&H and Sailing. Finally we will look at setting membership and Y&H fees for next year. I will bring you all the outcomes in my next newsletter and of course the GC minutes are available to all once they have been ratified.

Amazing effort from the Sailing Team and all the volunteers that have supported their activities over the last month.
Poole Boat Show
The Poole Yacht Club was brilliantly represented over this weekend. The team of volunteers who spent their weekend representing our Club looked striking in their bright orange T- shirts but as importantly their engagement with the public and potential new members was first class. I have already thanked those involved on behalf of all our members but I would like to praise their efforts once again. I really would like to name everyone involved from the shore team, the rib teams, the youth sailors competing in a mini Feva race and the R19’s with their try a boat. But the list would be too long for this newsletter.
The Poole Yacht Club Taster day
56 guests descended on our Club on Saturday 17th June for our “Taster Day”. The day was so well organised that our guests were given a first class experience. The sun shone, our Club and the harbour looked at their best and we even had some breeze fill in for the on the water sessions. We have already signed up new members from this event and again the sailing team and all the volunteers did an amazing job, once again thank you.
Yard and Haven
Last month I asked members to understand and comply with the new non-parking zones on the freshly repainted car park markings. I am at a loss to understand why a few members do not understand that NO PARKING in the yellow zones means please do not park there. Please comply; I have explained why these zones have to be kept clear. I have asked for sticky notices to be placed on the windscreens of offending cars. I really hope that these will never be needed.
House, Bar and Catering
The new climate control environmental systems are now up and running. This new system replaces our old and dysfunctional heating system. What a difference it is already making, in the recent very hot weather our Club house was cool (some say too cool but we can tweak that) and very comfortable.

Commodores Charity
I have been in discussions with Julia’s House about what could make a significant impact on the lives of the children and their parents. Julia’s house has play equipment specially designed to meet the very special needs of the children. A crucial aspect of supporting these children is the creation of “Play Plans” individually and specifically created by a “Playmaker”. Such plans are designed around the likes and wishes of each individual child. If we were to raise £5,000 over my time as
Commodore we could fund the creation of “Play Plans” for 31 children. Another alternative is that £5,000 would fund emergency care packages for 5 families in crisis. I will let you know in my next newsletter after I receive advice on what is the best option.
