The Commodore's Newsletter February 2023
Dear members
|
|||
One or two members have been in contact asking a question regarding our AGM and process, following the “official” notice and timeline issued by General Manager Mark last Friday.
I am happy to answer these and as always, if you have any questions or comments, I will be pleased to deal with them. If I don’t know the answer, I probably know which colleague is best placed to help. There will be an AGM “Q and A” on the website.
Our AGM is a more formal meeting with an agenda and timeline for the various aspects. Members are free to ask questions on the relevant agenda items, but unfortunately general questions cannot be taken. Minutes will be taken.
Our AGM is run in accordance with the Club’s Rules which are available to all members.
Typical questions
|
Yes, if your debit order is paid up to date.
|
No, you are only able vote on Flag Officer / Officer / General Committee Elections. If you want a Postal Vote, you will need to advise our General Manager by Monday 6th March 2023. You will then be sent a Postal Vote to complete and return to the Office via post or e-mail.
|
No. We, at Poole YC, are keen that our members come along and be part of the debates. This cannot be achieved by having proxy votes.
|
Members may submit propositions for the membership to vote on at the AGM. (Closing date for written submission to our General Manager is midnight Friday 24th February 2023). These may be on any aspects concerning our Club, our Rules and or our Byelaws. General Committee may take a view and put in an amendment (as can any member).
Finally… A THANK YOU from me…
This may well be my last Commodore’s Newsletter to you, as your Commodore.
I have much appreciated all the support, questions, comments, feedback and, in turn the courtesy you have shown me during the last three years, when considering all the various matters we have all had to deal with.
There were the odd times when we may not have always agreed on a topic, but that is how it is sometimes, and we have usually enjoyed a “good” debate on a topic. (Let’s hope that all those covid bulletins are a thing of the past!!)
I wish my successor every success as our next Commodore.
We are a fantastic Club!
Regards
John
